Choose an Alder Show

2nd District Alder Pre-Confirmed Choice

Kind of sad the way this took place. First, it was announced all “candidates” would have 3 minutes to address the council in their bid for the seat of 2nd District Alder Person.

All were given 3 minutes to address the council and public.  Yet, Mr. Vu wasn’t stopped when his 3 minutes were up – in fact, he was allowed to go on quite a bit longer – as in over 7 minutes (see video below).

Then, before the nominations were all in, our new Mayor, Mayor Ryan, already called him alderman Vu – then quick  back-peddled and said, “I mean citizen Vu”.

Speaking of nominations, that incredibly drawn-out, overly-dramatized show of “voting” was an incredible insult to our collective intelligence.  Make no mistake about it…

We knew then and there who was to be the chosen one.  What we do not know is the “WHY”???

I call on (and beg!) our new Mayor to PLEASE stop this “business as usual” approach and regain us some fairness, honesty and dignity…

The deck was stacked. The decision was made well beforehand.

The game was played, the public was duped, it appears nothing has changed. I hope I’m wrong.  This debacle looks bad on Mr. Vu, as well as on the entire council and the new mayor, whom many of us, including myself, were so happy to see take office.

Speaking of fairness: It needs to be noted that one alderman did stand up and make a motion to hold – but not one other alder had the temerity to 2nd his motion so it failed.  Ald. Bowman did more than 14 others had the courage to do.

Sad day in Sheboygan. Democracy failed us – again.

Is this the new “tone” of the new administration? God help us if it is.
