Dems: Grocery Bills Not High Enough

So, we have the highest unemployment rate ever.

Gas prices are – once again – on the rise.

Food prices keep going up…but they’re not high enough for the dems. Now they want to slap food manufacturers with a $1,000 fee for an annual registration with the F.D.A. to keep track of the distribution of all food products.  In addition, they want food manufacturers to write and carry out “safety plans”. And as we all should know by now, when gov’t butts into industries that means the manufacturers are going to pass those extra expenses onto we, the burdened and financially strapped consumers.

Can you imagine the added financial burden this will inflict on the food industry?

The “O’s” new food commissioner loves this idea: F.D.A. Chief Lauds Food Safety Bill as the ‘Right Direction’

WASHINGTON — Margaret A. Hamburg, the new commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, plunged on Wednesday into the contentious debate over how to fix the nation’s food safety system.

In her first appearance before Congress as commissioner, Dr. Hamburg told the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health that a safety overhaul sponsored by several leading Democrats was “a major step in the right direction,” but that her agency would need more money to carry it out.

The Subcommittee on Health is chaired by Rep. Frank Pallone Jr who represents the 6th district in New Jersey.  If you don’t care for this latest intrusion and highway robbery, follow this link for his contact information.   Rep. Henry Waxman can be contacted by following this link.  In October of 2008, Mr. Pallone claimed he wanted to work in a bi-partisan effort to “begin fixing the economy”.  In may not be a bad idea to let him know this latest move isn’t the way to do that.

And, keeping true to form, the demons – oops, dems, are in an all-fire hurry to push this latest atrocity through – in the name of “Food safety”:

Again and again, Republicans complained about specific aspects of a measure the committee is expected to vote on as soon as next week.

Representative Henry A. Waxman (D) from California’s 30th Congressional District thinks this is “only fair” – to which I ask, fair to whom???

Mr. Waxman defended the fees as necessary to support functions that would save the food industry from expensive recalls. “The bill simply asks industry to chip in its fair share,” he said.

Waxman is the Chair of the Committee on Energy and Commerce - if you have a few moments, read up a bit on this guy…another Bush-hater and one of those who launched investigations of White House ties to Enron.

This is craziness – this money-grubbing new commissioner of the Food and Drug Administrationof the O, Margaret A. Hamburg, even admits she doesn’t know what she’s doing in her position…

Dr. Hamburg sat quietly for the first 90 minutes of the hearing as legislators made opening statements. Asked afterward what she learned in her first appearance before Congress as commissioner, she answered, “That I have a lot to learn.”

No kidding.
