Blue State Blues

But the shame didn’t come out of Sheboygan – this time!

Peggy West. I’m sure everyone who follows the news heard this spew coming out of Milwaukee but just in case you haven’t, do check out the video at Today’s TMJ 4 News.

This video catches Democratic County Supervisor Peggy West showing off her geography skills during a debate whether Milwaukee should boycott Arizona by proclaiming that:

“If this was Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding their borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border.”

Friends, meet the Obama voters who would repeat the amnesty of 1986…

About Peggy:

“…A committed believer in community service, Supervisor West volunteers for UMOS, Inc. and Mexican Fiesta and serves as a mentor at Notre Dame Middle School.

Peggy serves on the Latina Resource Center Advisory Board, Sports Authority Planning Council, Health Care Policy Task Force, Milwaukee Center for Independence Board of Visitors, Kosciuszko Community Center Advisory Board and Esperanza Unida Board of Directors; she is Co-Chair of the Side Side National Night Out Planning Committee as well as the Cesar E. Chavez Drive Advancement Committee. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Milwaukee Democratic Party.

Gee…do ya think she could be biased???

Dear Doyle.

Governor,
You’re proving Rush Limbaugh spot on when he said, ”

“Liberalism is hideous. It is the antithesis of being pro-human. It looks at life as a burden in and of itself to be managed rather than as a blessing to be explored and lived to the fullest.”  -Rush”

Regarding all these new laws/reg/proposals/INTRUSIONS…

Senate Bill (SB) 44 – Handgun Registration – Requires the state Department of Justice to review mental health records as a part of the required background check for handgun purchases.
Oh that’s real productive. Just keep encouraging the black market, why don’t you?

SB 154 – School Bullying – Requires local school districts to adopt a school district bullying plan and the development of a state model bullying plan.
Oh please. This sounds straight out of looney tunes.  If you really insist on this idiocy, start with WEAC and the school boards. THEY ARE THE BULLIES WITHIN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM.

SB 163 – Colorectal Cancer Screening – Mandates health insurance coverage of colorectal cancer screening.
Talk about mucking around in shit.  You just can’t get in it deep enough, can you? Who comes up with this stuff???

SB 172 – Annexation Changes – Limits the ability for cities and villages to use direct annexation and authorizes limited town challenges to an annexation.
WHY?

SB 227 – Emergency Government – Sets a plan for interim successors for legislators and meetings of the legislature and legislative committees in the event of a disaster.
Why? Know something you’re not telling us?

SB 266 – Non-motorized Trails Council – Creates a State Non-motorized Recreation and Transportation Trails Council.
More bureaucracy. Getting REALLY old…

SB 307 – Lions Club License Plate – Creates a special license plate for Lions Clubs of Wisconsin.
Why? Do they want this?

SB 323 – Newborn Hearing Screening – Requires the screening of newborns for hearing impairment.
Excuse me, but there you go butting into the human body again. This should be up to parents, NOT GOV’T.

SB 362 – Mental Health Coverage – Mandates health insurance coverage of nervous and mental disorders, alcoholism and other drug abuse.
Uh-huh. I see. And this “mandate” is determined how?  And by whom? If a person gets nervous when they go to the dentist do they then fall under the “disordered” category”?  This is insane. I don’t want my taxes paying for those who CHOOSE to drink themselves into oblivion or drug themselves into a useless state. Not my fault. STOP making me pay for it. It’s bad enough we pay for this garbage via social security.  I now question – what about YOUR mental state? And that of more than half of our lawmakers? It’s past time we, the people start mandating their mental health.

SB 392 – Military Vehicles – Allows certain former military vehicles to be registered as a type of special interest vehicle.
Okay…

SB 400 – ATV Snow Removal – Allows ATVs to drive alongside roads for up to two miles if the purpose is to travel to a site to remove snow.
Ohhh..Kay.

SB 409 – CORE Jobs Act – Expands education and angel investment tax credits while creating farmshoring grants, business micro-loan programs and funding for manufacturing skills training.
Oh…more taxes to special interest. Brilliant…(not).

SB 484 – BadgerCare Plus Basic – Expands the BadgerCare state government health insurance program.
There you go again. See SB 323 and 163. Stop making me pay for others problems!!! I have enough of my own and you keep adding to the burden!

SB 530 – Payday Loans – Regulates payday and auto title loans in Wisconsin.
Ah…why? Leave people’s financial affairs alone.  If people are stupid enough to get mixed up with these loans, let them learn their lesson the hard way. They’ll never forget it.  A stupid, inane law like this isn’t going to stop financial stupidity.

SB 591 – Tenancy Termination – Allows for the termination of tenancy at the death of the tenant.
Just a sec here – isn’t this a “no brainer”? As I said, who’s mental health needs regulating here???

SB 651 – Green to Gold Fund – Creates a state revolving loan fund to help manufacturers update their facilities or make other investments in becoming more energy efficient.
More special interest bullshit.

SB 656 – Marshfield Dental Facility – Authorizes up to $10 million in borrowing to aid Marshfield Clinic in the construction of a rural dental education outreach facility in Marshfield.
See above.

Assembly Bill (AB) 333 – News Media Sources – Provides an absolute privilege for journalists to refuse to disclose confidential sources and confidential information.
Ah, I see, so more liberal media spew – oops I mean bias – can be considered “protected”.  This one could work against you and your agenda, you know.

AB 347 – Sheriff Sales – Authorizes Internet sales of unclaimed personal property by a sheriff.
And how much time does a person have to reclaim their property with this one? What are the notification attempt “rules and regs”? And who’s paying for this “Internet commerce”? And just what is wrong with the auctions and such already used for this purpose?  And what would be done with the information you would obtain from purchasers?  This one begs tons of questions…

AB 371 – Bear Hunting – Modifies several state bear hunting laws regarding shooting a wounded bear, training bear dogs, the age bear hunters need to be licensed, and several other provisions.
WHY?

AB 552 – Snowplows – Prohibits following snowplows too closely in cities.
What??? Who does this? And why? Aren’t you regulating stupidity again?

AB 588 – Massage Therapy – Creates a Massage Therapy and Bodywork Therapy Examining Board.
Please tell me you’re kidding me with this one.

AB 599 – Snowmobile Speed Limit – Sets the nighttime speed limits for snowmobiles at 55 m.p.h.
Okay, that’s real enforcable. Good luck.

AB 749 – Woody Biomass Tax Credit – Income/franchise tax credit for equipment used to harvest or process woody biomass intended to be used as a fuel component.
Oh yes, we must “go green”, musn’t we.

AB 842 – Engine Coolant – Requires bittering agents in certain engine coolants and antifreeze to prevent animal consumption.
So now regulate what animals eat. That’s rich. Sounds more like an added burden to those who must adhere to this nonsense.

AB 903 – Soccer Goal Regulation – Require new state regulations on moveable soccer goals.
What? It’s a GAME!

LESS GOVERNMENT FOR MORE PROSPERITY TO THE PEOPLE, PLEASE!

WI WAKE UP CALL – SB 640 and AB 895

Posted by Jeni | Wacky Wisconsin | Saturday 17 April 2010 4:17 am

SB 640 and AB 895 propose to:

  • Automatic Voter Registration – Require the state Government Accountability Board (GAB) to automatically add ALL eligible state residents to the state’s voter registration list.  Information would be obtained from various state government databases, including those used by the departments of health services, children and families, workforce development, revenue, regulation and licensing, transportation and natural resources.  Over time, all state residents would be added to the state’s voter rolls even if the individual never registered to vote.
  • Federal MOVE Act – Implement the federal Military Overseas Voting Empowerment Act that seeks to make it easier for overseas military personnel to vote or register to vote.
  • Challenging Ballots – In municipalities with a population over 2,500, require that individuals challenging the integrity of a ballot cast in an election be a resident of the same ward or election district in which that ballot was cast.
  • Early Voting – Create an early voting system that would allow for early voting to start on the third Thursday before an election and continue until the day before the election.  Voting could take place for a couple of weeks under this plan.
  • Use of Campus Dormitory Lists for Voter Registration – Require local clerks and election officials to accept campus dormitory lists as official qualified voter lists.
  • Permanent Absentee Ballots – Require a system whereby an absentee ballot be sent to an elector automatically for every succeeding election until the elector fails to return the absentee ballots mailed to the elector for two consecutive elections.
  • Record-Matching with Private Groups – Allow GAB to enter into an agreement with “any nationally focused nonprofit organization” to enable “matching of information in the records of that organization with publicly available information in GAB records to facilitate administration of elector registration by GAB”.  The agreement may also enable matching of information in the GAB records that GAB obtained from DOT.
  • Internet Voter Registration – The current version of the bill contains new provisions for an online voter registration system administered by GAB.

State Assembly leadership plans to push for a vote on these changes on Tuesday.  That is why it is critically important that you contact your elected officials BEFORE TUESDAY and tell them your thoughts on these proposals.  Specifically, Representatives Terry Van Akkeren and Ted Zigmunt need to her from you.  They may be reached at:

Is the POPE Corrupt Now, Too?

Posted by Jeni | Wacky Wisconsin | Thursday 25 March 2010 9:23 am

What to say…

Vatican: No cover-up in US molestation case - VATICAN CITY (AP) — Two Wisconsin bishops urged the Vatican office led by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger — now Pope Benedict XVI — to let them conduct a church trial against a priest accused of molesting some 200 deaf boys, but the Vatican ordered the process halted, church and Vatican documents show.

On Thursday, a group of clerical abuse victims provided the documentation to reporters outside the Vatican, where they staged a press conference to denounce Benedict’s handling of the case. During the conference, a policeman asked for identification and they were subsequently detained, police said.

“The goal of Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict, was to keep this secret,” said Peter Isely, Milwaukee-based director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests.

Laptop Searches

Posted by Jeni | Wacky Wisconsin | Saturday 29 August 2009 2:36 am

The ACLU filed a lawsuit demanding access to documents related to the CBP policy of searching travelers’ laptop computers. The ACLU alleges that the laptop search policy violates travelers’ Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable searches and seizures because laptops are searched without “individualized suspicion” of wrongdoing.

Last year, US Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) criticized the CBP’s warrantless searches and seizures of travelers’ laptops and other digital devices at the US border, calling the searches an unacceptable invasion of privacy.

The US Supreme Court has held that reasonable suspicion is not necessary to conduct routine searches at the border, but Feingold said that searches of laptops and other digital devices are analogous to more invasive practices such as strip searches. In April of last year, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that reasonable suspicion is not necessary for a warrantless search of a laptop or other digital device at the border due to inherent national security interests. The court rejected the argument that a laptop is like a human mind because of its ability to record ideas and emails, and held instead that a laptop is the same as closed containers such as purses and wallets.

Read the Court’s ruling.

Doyle’s Railroad Debauchery

Posted by Jeni | Wacky Wisconsin | Thursday 6 August 2009 5:59 am

Follow this trail and see how Doyle treated one of our finest businesses, Super Steel.

What is Super Steel?  Super Steel is a leading manufacturing and assembly operation for commuter and freight rail systems in the U.S.  Super Steel was founded in Milwaukee in 1923. They have been providing jobs and stimulating our Wisconsin economy for over 80 years.  Moving on…

Doyle wants to play train master.  He takes on this sudden obsession to purchase trains.  Running from bad press on the budget, Doyle heads off to Spain to “work a deal” with a Spanish company called Talgo. The Spanish government paid for his trip.  But that was peanuts compared to their “pay back” from our UNesteemed Gov. Doyle via OUR TAXES.

Train sets are purchased (cost stated later).

On February 18th, an email sent out from the Department of Transportation said that the state will use a competitive bidding process for the train purchase.  Sounds like business as usual, correct?  Well, Doyle went and put a whole new, brazenly transparent – and UGLY - face on dirty politicking. That e-mail was useless balderdash.

Last week, Milwaukee area officials had to BEG to allow Super Steel in Milwaukee to assemble the train sets purchased by the state from Talgo.  Their efforts, unfortunately, were in vain.

On the same day Milwaukee officials make their plea, Mark Belling reported that Super Steel was in jeopardy of losing what would have been its biggest contract for assembly work with the train manufacturer Nippon Shayro, a client of Super Steel.

Why? Because Doyle awarded Talgo the contract on a no-bid basis. Never mind that they were supposed to take bids, as is usually the case – you know, to get the best price and give contractors (and working citizens) an opportunity to obtain work.

Never mind that a local company could have helped the state prosper.

Never mind the damage done to local businesses and citizens.

The only people Doyle had in his dirty mind were the new buddies he crawled in bed with:  Talgo President Antonio Perez and Spanish Trade Commissioner, Jose Luis Briceno.

Now we go from insult to downright injury…the cost:

The purchase of Talgo assembly sets cost $47.5 million and was touted by Doyle as a way to create 80 jobs at a cost of nearly $600,000 each (which doesn’t include interest on the money borrowed that will cost future generations).

Enter the “Go Green Gestapo”.

Doyle also touted this horror as a means of helping Wisconsin “go green“. The bogus claim is that Rail construction will create jobs, get people out of their cars and onto more “eco-conscious” rail cars.

But irony of all ironies, Spain has already embarked upon a reliance of subsidized “green jobs” – and the result is disastrous.

“Study Finds That Every “Green Job” Created In Spain Resulted In 2.2 Other Jobs Being Destroyed” Ref: Groundbreaking Study Puts Real-World Numbers Behind The Promise of “Green Jobs”

After having one of the fastest growing economies in the entire world, Spain’s asinine adventure into “green jobs” has them struggling from economic downturn.  Can we not learn from the mistakes of others or are we just going to blindly follow them into financial ruin??? How stupid is that?

The Final Kick in the Tax Payers A$$

Many of the proposed new rail systems will be run by unelected boards, with the ability to impose taxes on citizens without their approval.

Can’t blame Spain for Doyle’s idiocy. The blame falls on WI voters. Call yourself a democrat if you want but for heaven’s sake, save our state and our money and please STOP VOTING THAT WAY!

When Politician’s Travel on Our Dime

Posted by Jeni | City Citations,Wacky Wisconsin | Friday 10 July 2009 6:21 am

Doyle’s travel reports deficient

Gov. Jim Doyle and his staff failed to properly account for 145 travel expenses over two years, including a $5,200 business-class flight to Ireland and a $654-a-night stay in a London hotel.

Among expenses that weren’t properly documented was a business-class ticket to Ireland for Doyle in April 2008 that cost $5,226 round trip. An accompanying coach-class ticket for Goodwin cost $830.

Looks like government employees are also keeping the airlines in business, “enso”?  As the Wisconsin Club for Growth stated:

Doyle and his aides continue to illustrate a total disregard for hardworking families who are about to pay another $3 billion in taxes to support the Governor’s spending habits. So when you hear Governor Doyle say we all need to sacrifice in order to balance the state budget, he’s saying “we” but he means “you.”

Speaking of traveling, how about that WI Dept. of Tourism ripping us off for a new slogan they stole from Bacardi Rum – one that cost $250,000.00?

And right here at home we have a useless group called “People to People” wanting $500 of our tax dollars so they can send exchange students to Florida for fun and frolic while many citizen’s don’t even have a job to go to.

Adding insult to injury, we also have the Mayor’s Int’l Committee planning on all kinds of spending for travel that is absolutely unnecessary.  They plan to run off to Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague.  While we sit here with a very high unemployment rate.

Think we could complain to the GAB (Wisconsin Government Accountability Board)? No, guess we couldn’t – they’re only good at spending and wasting our tax dollars, too.  I guess it wasn’t bad enough that they spent $2 million on a failed online campaign finance reporting system, and $22 million on a voter registration file riddled with errors and non-existent voters.

Now they, too have to have a “new logo(what’s this, the “ME, TOO!!!” game?) – and this one is almost identical to the symbol for “Anarchy.”

So in summary we have:
  1. A Governor who initiated 3 BILLION more in taxes for us while he pranced around the world on our dime
  2. A WI Dept. of Tourism throwing our money away on a ridiculous slogan that wasn’t even an original
  3. A supposed “Accountability Board” worried more about their image as anarchists than voter fraud and actually holding anyone accountable
  4. WEAC robbing us blind via salaries, big, useless buildings they call schools -  and also unnecessary TRAVEL expenses

This is what happens when democrats dominate.  The working class pays dearly.

Wacky Wisconsin Drinking Mentality

Posted by Jeni | Wacky Wisconsin | Sunday 5 July 2009 6:22 am

A recent report, Alcohol-Related Ills Increasing Worldwide, states that one in 25 deaths is drinking-related.  And anyone who pays any attention to the news, knows we have a serious problem right here in WI with drunk driving. JS Online has done a complete series on this topic called Wasted in Wisconsin.

Yet, in spite of all the reporting, in Wisconsin we have people who actually did the following:

  • Man gets drunk in a tavern, man leaves tavern with girlfriend…they’re on a motorcycle.
  • Man crashes, girlfriend gets killed.

So what does the tavern do? They plan a fund-raiser for the guy who drove drunk and caused a death. And to add insult to injury, they serve booze – to people who will leave and drive drunk.

Nobody learned a thing.  The lesson went right over their heads. What do you do with this kind of mentality?

Jim Stingl of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel did a story on this and reported the following regarding the fund raiser:

On the fliers it posted around that area, the bar says Taylor was in a “very bad and tragic bike accident” but doesn’t mention his role in that crash or say exactly how the money will be used.

I wanted to ask if she understood the twisted irony of a beer-fueled tavern blowout to break the fall of a beer-fueled driver accused of causing a woman’s death.

I’m not surprised she hung up on me.

So when a reporter tried to question this behavior, the response was to hang up on him.

Proves the old saying, “You can’t defend the indefensible” to be true, doesn’t it?
