Congressional Reform Act of 2010

A friend of a friend passed this along…no idea who the original author is, but kudo’s to him/her. Pass this on to your Senators!

Serving in Congress is an honor; not, a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serving their term(s), then going home and back to work.

1. Term Limits. 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

  • A. Two, Six-year Senate terms
  • B. Six, Two-year House terms
  • C. One, Six-year Senate term and three, Two-Year House terms.

This applies to all Senate and Congressional Aides as well.

2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when he/she is out of office.

3. Congress (past, present, and future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

9. Lobbying Congress will be illegal and, if commited by a former Senator or House Representative, it will be considered a felony.

And how about one more to round it off to a nice “10″: DO ONLY WHAT YOU WERE INTENDED TO DO:

  1. Protect and defend our shores
  2. Deliver the mail
  3. Print (don’t pocket) the money

Tracking, recording and monitoring each person’s BMI along with forced “health care” just doesn’t fall under the role of the Federal gov’t – along with a myriad of other matters they butt their intrusive beaks into.

In other words, get the hell out of our personal business and tend to the business you’re elected to tend to.

America riddled with political surveillance

ACLU: America is riddled with politically motivated surveillance
Cory Doctorow at 12:28 AM Wednesday, Jun 30, 2010

A new ACLU report, “Policing Free Speech: Police Surveillance and Obstruction of First Amendment-Protected Activity,” documents recent cases of politically motivated surveillance across America — cases in which people were put under surveillance “for doing little more than peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights.”

And Wisconsin is one of them…here’s a screenshot of the map:

FDA: You Have No Right to Real Food

Posted by Jeni | D.C. Debauchery | Saturday 29 May 2010 8:07 am

The FDA has finally made its food-rights policy crystal clear. Here’s the agency’s position, made evident in their response to a lawsuit filed by the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund:

  1. They believe you have no absolute right to any raw unprocessed food, unless the FDA says it’s okay
  2. They believe you have no right to good health, except as approved by the FDA
  3. They believe that there is no right for citizens to contract privately for their food

The Complete Patient reports:

“More Americans appear to be getting the message … Over the past six months, we’ve had the popular push in Wisconsin, a state where the regulators have gone bonkers to eliminate raw milk, to pressure legislators to approve making it available from the farm … [and] a firestorm building in Massachusetts over a … decision by a regulator to restrict consumer access to milk.”

They’ve tied themselves to this “new and intrusive” FDA.

Drugs.com Furthers Reach of FDA Consumer Health Information

The Food and Drug Administration and the website Drugs.com have teamed to broaden the reach of FDA’s consumer health information.

A new partnership forged by the two entities provides consumers with a joint resource on Drugs.com’s site that features FDA Consumer Update articles, videos, and slideshows. It will also bring FDA health information to Drugs.com’s mobile phone platform.

Drugs.com seeks to provide patients with information to better manage their own health care and to assist in the reduction of medication errors. It attracts more than 12 million unique visitors each month.

Autism Vaccine Cover-Up

Posted by Jeni | D.C. Debauchery | Tuesday 30 March 2010 3:14 am

Well, here’s where a couple million of our taxpayer funds went…

Dr. Poul Thorsen, a central figure behind the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) claims disputing the link between vaccines and autism and other neurological disorders has disappeared after officials discovered massive fraud involving the theft of millions in taxpayer dollars.

Now, Dr. Poul Thorsen, who was involved in several key studies that the CDC uses to support their claims that MMR and mercury-containing vaccines are safe, has disappeared — amidst serious fraud charges and with nearly $2 million that was supposedly used for research.

But the study was actually a masterfully done example of lying by omission, because at the same time the autism increase took place a new law had been put into place that required autism cases to be reported on the national level. There was also a new clinic dedicated to autism treatment opened. These two factors were likely the driving forces behind the sudden increase in reported autism cases, but the researchers failed to disclose them.

Despite the obvious ramifications of these omitted “details,” the CDC has relied on this study to “prove” their case that MMR vaccine and mercury are safe for your kids.

Thorsen had not only falsified documents but was also receiving salaries from two universities

Given the fraudulent nature of Dr. Thorsen’s activities, autism groups and others are demanding the CDC take a second look at Thorsen’s research.

But as you might expect, the CDC is hearing none of it. According to a CDC statement:

Dr. Thorsen was one of many co-authors on these research projects. All of these were subject to extensive peer review and we have no reason to suspect that there are any issues related to the integrity of the science. The allegations that are fiscal in nature against Dr. Thorsen are being looked into by appropriate authorities.”

Gov’t Consumer Trending Lie

Posted by Jeni | D.C. Debauchery | Tuesday 2 March 2010 6:27 am

In the “2009 FIC Functional Foods for Health Consumer Trending Survey” people were asked,

“In general, how interested are you in learning more about foods that have health benefits beyond basic nutrition?”

What gov’t tells you the survey says: Americans remain highly interested in learning more about foods with added benefits.

What the ACTUAL results are: 56 percent don’t care (Page 30 in survey document).

The next question is interesting, as well. The graph below tells all – note: IMPACT OF MEDIA #1; LABELS ON PRODUCTS AND  TEACHER/INSTRUCTOR ARE IN THE BOTTOM THREE.

Survey

SO  tell me again, why are we forcing the food industry into creating all those costly food labels that increase food prices for us consumers?

And why are school districts pushing all the nutrition hype – second only to their perverse fascination with sex and their perception of “sex education”?

BHO Appoints Conservative Talk Show Seminar Callers

Posted by Jeni | D.C. Debauchery | Saturday 27 February 2010 7:12 pm

BHO’s Organizing for America has been building an army of talk radio seminar callers –  that is, activists tasked with calling conservative talk radio programs, then dutifully repeating DNC talking points until the program director hangs up on them. Yesterday, they unveiled their website: Radio.BarackObama.com.

It actually includes simple, step-by-step instructions on how to, er, find stations on the radio. Then how to call these shows. On the phone. An actual excerpt from the Radio.BarackObama website:

How radio stations will connect you will depend on the show. Some radio shows may connect you right away, but most will take your name and basic info and put you on hold. You may or may not be able to hear the broadcast on the show while you’re waiting. You may hear the radio host say something like, “Hello, we have your name on the line with us.”

Share the wealth. Go to this link:  http://radio.barackobama.com/  & scroll down to the “Report Your Call” box and use your “free speech” any way you wish.

Take Maalox??

Posted by Jeni | D.C. Debauchery | Wednesday 17 February 2010 4:06 pm

Choosing the wrong liquid Maalox product for your condition can have harmful consequences, warns the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Consumers may be confused by the similar packaging and labeling of liquid Maalox and Maalox Total Relief. Both products are available without a prescription (over-the-counter) and feature the Maalox name, but they contain different ingredients for the relief of different symptoms.

GET THE WHOLE PDF MEANT JUST TO PROTECT STUPID YOU FROM NASTY OTC MAALOX!

“Maalox Total Relief and Maalox are not interchangeable and shouldn’t be used in place of each other,” says Carol Holquist, R.Ph., director of FDA’s Division of Medication Error Prevention and Analysis.

And now the makers of Maalox can “enjoy” (gag) the FDA’s close watch, regulation and scrutiny for selling an OTC:

Due to the potential for serious side effects from product confusion, the maker of Maalox brand products has agreed to

  • change the name of Maalox Total Relief to one that will not include the name “Maalox” and revise the graphics and information displayed on the front of the product to help distinguish the active ingredients and uses of this product from the Maalox antacids. The company expects to begin selling the renamed product in September 2010.
  • carry out an educational program that includes outreach to health care professionals and consumers to inform them about the different products sold under the Maalox brand, including how to select the appropriate Maalox brand product
  • monitor the safety of Maalox brand products and report side effects related to their use

What next.  Never mind. I don’t think I want to know…
